DCPA Off-Center’s next immersive production will take place in our dedicated building at Broadway Park, located at 407 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209. This temporary position will be from July 8 through December 14, 2025.

About Off-Center
What began in 2010 as a small theatrical test kitchen has grown into a signature line of programming at the DCPA, credited with bringing immersive theatre to Colorado and helping establish Denver as a national hub for immersive art. No two Off-Center experiences are exactly alike but they all have one thing in common: putting the audience at the center of the story.
Job Purpose
The Rehearsal Director (RD) is responsible for helping maintain the original artistic vision and integrity of the show throughout the long run. The RD works together with the production’s directing team to implement the artistic vision for the production and support the directing team and the performers throughout the rehearsal process. During the run of the show, the RD regularly audits performances and gives notes to performers to maintain the integrity and quality of the production, supports and covers performers as a universal swing as needed, and provides leadership and support for the performers in collaboration with the stage management team.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the directing team to learn the artistic vision, blocking, and direction for the production, assist in adapting it to the space, and teach it to the performers
- Support the directing team and performers as needed throughout the rehearsal process
- Be present on site at half hour every performance day to check in with the cast, share notes and troubleshoot as needed
- Regularly (2-6 times per week) audit performances and give notes to performers to maintain the quality of performance and integrity of each role as well as each performer in the show
- Represent the artistic needs of the show in regular check-ins with the stage management team throughout the run
- Keep track of and share artistic notes with the company, stage management and the Off-Center team/directing team
- Problem solve performer issues that arise, as needed
- Plan and lead brush-up rehearsals, as needed
- In the event that additional casting is necessary during the run, assist with the casting and put-in process
Universal Swing Responsibilities:
- Learn all of the parts of the show as Universal Swing and be ready to step into any role at any time throughout the run (in addition to the two dedicated show understudies)
- If assigned to understudy, you shall perform only in those performances designated by DCPA.
Qualifications
- Directing or dance captain experience preferred
- Immersive performance experience preferred
- Perform and coach pedestrian physical tasks, heightened/more figurative movement, and athletic partnered choreography
- Ability to lead a comprehensive warm-up
- Ability to interact and communicate professionally, courteously and effectively, including giving clear, concise, and kind instructions to individuals and groups
- Basic computer skills – email, Microsoft Office
- Professionalism, poise under pressure, and a positive attitude towards the organization and co-workers
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and as part of a team
Supervisor Responsibilities
No direct reports or direct supervisor responsibilities
Physical Requirements
Must be able to climb, dance, and move between spaces. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and utilize a computer.
Work Conditions
The show will run out of DCPA Off-Center at Broadway Park, located at 407 S. Broadway, Denver, CO 80209. Dance scenes will occur on a sprung wooden floor and work conditions meet AEA performance standards.
Compensation
$1,087/week for 23 weeks from July 8 – December 14, 2025
