We are currently seeking a driven Assistant Buyer who will be responsible for supporting the Retail Buyer in managing retail store categories that are assigned including inventory control, replenishing stock, analyzing reports, achieving planned COS and driving top-line revenue. This professional will support daily operational tasks relating to maintenance of data integrity in the retail system, field/vendor communication, upkeep of regional assortments and floor plans. The Assistant Buyer manages the reorder process to ensure consistent flow of product, ensures stores achieve a high inventory in-stock percentage especially on key items by utilizing the retail software system, and works closely with the Corporate Retail Buyer to develop key assortments. This role also will monitor sales to recognize slow selling items and suggests a process to replace with more viable product.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the Inventory management software to prepare purchase orders for input and establish retail prices based on company margin and pricing strategies.
- Analyzing sales and forecasting inventory levels needed to support rate of sale.
- Evaluate on hand inventory to determine appropriate par levels for the setup of skus (styles) in order to utilize auto replenishment.
- Responsible for tracking all orders to insure the consistent flow of goods. Assists with managing open-to-buy by monitoring stock levels through timely deliveries and stock balancing within.
- Troubleshoot all order/receiving issues with property personnel and distribution center Managers.
- Assist Distribution Centers in monitoring distribution of product between D.C. and stores. Effectively monitor inventory, coordinate transfers and maintain adequate levels of inventory to ensure acceptable inventory turns.
- Complete all new vendor setup and compliance along with vendor updates; coordinates non-compliance chargeback process with properties and corporate A/P.
- Work with individual properties to add value to web store selection through addition of new products.
- Travel to properties as required assisting support staff with executing merchandising strategies; assists in physical inventories as needed.
- Attend local industry trade shows and Denver office vendor meetings for product sourcing purposes.
- Provide leadership and direction to store managers and sales staff.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Closely with:
- Corporate Retail Buyer, Director and Chief Merchandising & Supply Chain Officer in analyzing sales reports and store priorities.
- Store management on merchandising changes, product development and promotions.
- Vendors on product development, pricing, and vendor supplied fixtures.
- Directors and General Managers for store remodels and seasonal store openings.
- Managers on fixtures & product placement, promotions, graphics, signage, and other store changes.
Travel to:
- Local Trade and Gift Shows.
- Seasonal Store openings and inventories as needed.
- Travel can include weekends, holidays, and extra hours as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree: Business, Retailing or Fashion Merchandising preferred, or Associates Degree
- 2 years related Retail experience
- Inventory management knowledge and good analytical skills.
- Interest in product development.
- Ability to know the marketplace, spot trends and react accordingly.
- Ability to process large amounts of data, filter and make decisions in a timely manner.
- Excellent knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office including Excel advance functions & strong business retail math skills
- Product development experience, working with both domestic and import supplier network a plus.
- Previous store operations experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities; self-motivated; good decision making.
- Experience working with Inventory Management Systems.
- Ability to make decisions, meet targets and work under pressure.
- Ability to cohesively work well with others in a team environment supporting Xanterra’s core values.
- Professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to accomplish physical aspects of the position including moderate to heavy lifting, long periods of standing and bending, and the ascent/descent of ladders.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid driver’s license.
COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position is $55,000.00 - $58,000.00.
