Float Pool is made up of nurses and certified nurse aids (CNAs) who are proficient and competent in all medical / surgical areas at Denver Health. In addition, we have specialized teams for women and children departments, critical care and emergency departments, and acute care departments.
Job Summary
Under the supervision of an RN, performs basic patient care activities. The Nursing Apprentice II role provides an opportunity for students that have graduated from a nursing program to enhance clinical skills in a hospital environment when applying for licensure / registration to the Nursing Regulatory Body to take the NCLEX Examination. The Nursing Apprentice II adheres to the American Nurses Association (ANA) standards of professional nursing and performance, and the ANA Code of Ethics (2015) to provide care to all patients. Utilizes the Theory of Human Caring and Caritas in daily practice. "Jean Watson, PhD, RN, AHN-BC, FAAN, Founder / Director, Watson Caring Science Institute
Essential Functions :
- Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including but not limited to, monitoring vital (25%)
- Signs, taking blood glucose measurements, and recording intake and output. (10%)
- Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to, bathing, grooming and eating. (10%)
- Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. (10%)
- Assists with keeping unit(s) and patient rooms stocked, clean, and orderly. (10%)
- Develop specific clinical nurse skills through observation of experts and supervised, hands-on experience. (10%)
- Documentation that complies with clinical guidelines. (10%)
- Partners with interprofessional team on healthcare consumer throughput by proactively solving problems related to capacity and healthcare consumer flow. (10%)
- Collaborates with interprofessional teams to incorporate Lean principles for quality improvement initiatives. (5%)
