Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.

Overview of Position
Reporting to the Gilpin Campus Principal, this position is responsible for implementing effective student learning at Denver Language School. This role has an intended start date of August 6, 2025 and the vacancy will remain open until filled.
Pay and Benefits
- Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The starting range for this position is $50,000 - $61,001 from August through July.
- 10 days of Paid Time Off with an option to roll up to 6 days to the following school year.

Essential Functions and Objectives
Develops and administers Chinese Language Arts and Social Studies curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.Develops lesson plans and instructional materials for the subject area, and translates lesson plans into learning experiences to develop pertinent sequential assignments, challenge students, and best utilize the available time for instruction.Teaches knowledge and skills in language acquisition and the development of reading, writing, and speaking and grade level appropriate social studies contentDesigns learning activities to demonstrate the application of language and social studies content material to everyday existence and problem-solving.Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.Maintains familiarity with district and Colorado State standardized tests for the purpose of adapting curriculum to maximize student achievement on such tests.Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research.Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws.Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.Ensures that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies, and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.Coordinates with other professional staff members, especially within grade level, and participates in faculty meetings and committees.Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids and other supplies and equipment and maintains inventory records.Knowledge, Experience, & Other Qualifications :
Must possess a current Colorado Teacher License OR a passing score on the PLACE or Praxis test OR the ability to pass the Praxis test within the next 6 monthsMust possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
