Denver Language School (DLS) is a public, tuition-free language immersion charter school located in East Denver. DLS provides an innovative academic program to reach the highest levels of student achievement through comprehensive language immersion education in Spanish and Mandarin Chinese. DLS offers traditional learning activities in the target language, making the language both the medium and the object of instruction.

5 FTE Restorative Justice Assistant

Overview of position :

This part-time position will work from 10 : 00-2 : 00, Monday through Friday and is responsible for supporting the administrative and student support team through implementation of Restorative Practices, PBIS, student behavioral support, and providing student Type 1 interventions in order to establish a safe and supportive school climate.

The school has created this new position to address the needs of our students in grades 5-8 at the Denver Language School Gilpin Campus. The role is part-time at 20 hours per week and will end on June 6, 2025. This position will not be eligible for continuation into future school years.

We would like to find a suitable candidate as soon as possible. This position will remain open until filled.

Pay and Benefits :

Employees at DLS are compensated in accordance with other Denver-area charter schools. The starting range for this position is $21,375 - $22,348 (based upon $42,750 - $44,695 1.0 FTE) from August through July.

10 days of PTO with an option to roll up to 6 days to the following school year.

Essential Functions and Objectives

Support classroom teachers with Type 1 behavior interventions

Work with Restorative Practices Assistant to develop improvement plans to reduce disproportionate discipline practices

Support Restorative Practices Assistant with documentation of behavioral incidences

Identify and build relationships with school, parent and community stakeholders

Collaborate with school staff and provide tiered levels of support within the Positive

Behavioral Supports and Interventions framework

Provide school based coordination and facilitation of restorative practices for student

Support, using restorative tools affirmation talk, circles, and conferencing as needed, to

Support a positive school climate and culture

Help develop restorative classrooms, used to support students’ social and emotional

needs

Provide ongoing restorative circles for students that need additional support

Achieve and maintain certification in district-approved positive behavior intervention

training program that requires the demonstration of proper physical and verbal de-escalation techniques used during a potential crisis situation (NCI / CPI)

Attend in-service, staff development activities and other required meetings

Participate in local, state, or national staff development activities as requested

Maintain appropriate documentation as determined by the supervisor

Maintain confidentiality and comply with all pertinent federal, state and district

regulations and policies

Attend weekly MTSS meetings and other student focused team meetings as necessary or directed by the supervisor

Serve as a spokesperson for restorative justice practices; clearly articulate and explain

the benefits or restorative processes

Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required

Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc.

Knowledge of student behavior management techniques.

Knowledge of dispute resolution techniques and ability to engage in dispute resolution.

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Ability to multitask and prioritize work as needed; be willing to manage and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
