About this job:

P
rovides any type of special services and assistance to improve the functioning of students and their families in order to maximize academic functioning and achievement during our Summer programs. May specialize in Nursing, Social work, Psychology, or other types of therapies.

Summer Connections will be a fun five weeks where your child will have a chance to be exposed to content from their upcoming grade. All rising first through fifth grade DPS students are encouraged to apply!

Dates and TImes
  • Friday, June 9th: Summer Connection Kick-off with students
  • June 12, 2023 to July 14th, 2023. No school on June 19th, 2023 and July 4th, 2023
  • Classes begin 8:20a and ends at 3:30p
  • Buildings will be open at 7:50a for Breakfast. Lunch will be served.

What You'll Do:

  • Responsible for providing social and emotional support to students participating in Summer Programs. Meets with students who were engaged in conflict to support them in resolving it, helping students who are triggered to de-escalate.
  • Responds to referrals and or reported cases from teachers, administrators, other school personnel, parents, students, self, and community agencies such as the Department of Human Services.
  • Serves as a liaison between students, homes, schools, family services, child guidance clinics, courts, protective services, doctors, and other contacts, to help children who face problems such as disabilities, abuse, or poverty during the summer program.
  • Provide assistance and or referral students, families, or staff regarding issues including mental health, poverty, unemployment, substance abuse, physical abuse, rehabilitation, social adjustment, child care, or medical care.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, and other school personnel to determine causes of problems such as truancy and misbehavior, and to implement solutions.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Nursing, Required.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work and Psychology, Required. Master’s Degree in Nursing, preferred.
  • 1 (one) or more years of experience in school special services experience is preferred. Experience working with families, including the administration of developmental and family assessments. High skill level in social work techniques and strategies.
  • Current Colorado Special Service Provider License with an endorsement in Social Worker, Psychologist or Nursing.
  • Knowledge with Google Suite, including Doc, Sheets and Gmail.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effectively handle multiple demands and competing deadlines.
  • The ability to take responsibility for one’s own performance.
  • Work collaboratively with others on a team.
  • Aptitude for variety and changing expectations and a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural and linguistic awareness and sensitivity of diverse populations is essential.
  • High skill level in social work techniques and strategies.
  • Lead for racial and educational excellence and work to dismantle systems of oppression and inequity in our community, along with believing in and supporting all students so they feel seen and heard with access to high quality education.
  • Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado while working with us.
  • Have the ability with or without accommodations to meet the
    physical demands
    of the position.
