Job Summary
DRI seeks a Research Assistant to provide support for a randomized clinical trial examining the efficacy of a novel psychological treatment for primary chronic pain called Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT). PRT seeks to develop a new paradigm of chronic pain treatment aiming to help patients recover from chronic pain, using cognitive, exposure-based, and emotion-focused techniques.This position is located at the Center of Innovation (COIN) within the VA Eastern Colorado Healthcare System (ECHCS) in a new, state of the art campus is in Aurora, CO. This position will involve close collaboration with colleagues at the Pain Science Program in the Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Colorado School of MedicineVA ECHCS offers a teaching hospital with state-of-the-art technology, education, and research, making it an ideal career choice for many clinical and administrative professionals. The facility has numerous specialized programs in addition to the comprehensive health care provided to our Veterans.Specific responsibilities may include the following:
- Recruitment, screening, interviewing, and scheduling study subjects
- Performing human subjects data collection (survey administration, computerized data input and export, data management)
- Project administrative support Health
- Qualitative and quantitative methods
- Dissemination of research findings (support for manuscript writing, presentation of results, research reports)
- Undergraduate degree (BS or BA) or higher in a related field
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience with human subjects in research
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Prior experience working with Veterans
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work with participants with high complexity
- Desire to learn and work collaboratively with a team
- Ability to work individually and as a team to support team-based science
Work Environment:This job operates in a business-casual office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.Physical Demands:Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform all portions of the work. However, there is periodic walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:This is a full-time position. Travel:Travel may be required as a part of the position but would be minimal.
