General Statement of Job Function
The Director of the PhD-CES Program is a faculty member in the Counseling Division and plays an essential role in Denver Seminary’s academic mission by contributing excellent administrative leadership, teaching, scholarly work, student mentoring, spiritual modeling, and institutional service. The Director oversees the creation of the structures and processes for the PhD program, recruiting and enrolling of cohorts, staffing of the PhD program, budget development and requests, and development of grants and funding in collaboration with the Academic Dean and the Advancement office.

Essential Functions
- Oversee the PhD-CES curriculum.
- Represent the PhD-CES program to prospective students, current students, and external constituents, including program promotion and response to inquiries.
- Review and approve student applications to the program, including participation in or oversight of applicant interviews.
- Communicate with students who need assistance with the program, courses, or other academic matters. Refer questions to the Registrar or appropriate department as needed. Serve as primary resolution specialist for student concerns.
- Prepare and facilitate annual residency experience for students.
- Oversee and participate in student dissertation processes, including recruitment and training of chairpersons and readers.
- Supervise program staff.
- Oversee the interviews, selection, and training of adjunct faculty for the program.
- Oversee course observations for adjunct and full-time faculty in the program.
- Oversee updates, revisions, and developments to the program curriculum.
- Work with Registrar’s office to prepare annual course schedules.
- Serve as a member of the CSAT team for student challenges/interventions.
- Serve as co-chair of the counseling division with the co-chair who directs the MA programs.
- Contribute to annual faculty evaluations for each PhD faculty member in the division and, where necessary, collaborate with the co-chair of the division.
- Assist PhD division faculty members in preparing to apply for rank advancement and/or tenure.
- Oversee PhD-CES budget.
- Oversee CACREP compliance processes.
- Attend regular faculty meetings, division meetings, and other required faculty functions as specified in the Faculty Handbook.
- Participate as requested in any legal proceedings involving Denver Seminary (may involve employee or student interactions).
- Participate in professional organizations.
- Other duties as assigned by the Academic Dean.
- Teach a reduced course load.
- PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP‐accredited program
- Licensed, or license eligible, as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado
- Significant clinical counseling and clinical supervision experience and training
- Experience in leadership and program direction, preferably in higher education
- Experience teaching in CACREP‐accredited Counseling programs in higher education, especially in non‐traditional delivery modes
- Extensive graduate level teaching experience
- Knowledge and teaching skills commensurate with working in a CACREP‐accredited program
- Knowledge and teaching skills commensurate with working in an accredited Seminary, including the ability to integrate faith and practice
- Excellent collegiality and collaborative skills
- Theological training and experience (preferably at the Masters level)
- Experience working among diverse populations
- Committed personal relationship with Jesus Christ required and a lifestyle consistent with the Seminary’s Community Values and Behavioral Commitments.
- Agreement with Denver Seminary’s Statement of Faith and Statement on Human Sexuality.

- Solvency in annual budget as determined by annual program assessment and contribution margin analysis
