Denver Transit Operators, (DTO) is a privately held company that has a 29-year contract with RTD to operate and maintain the new commuter rail system within the Greater Denver Metro area. We currently have opportunities to hire Communication Technician. The Communication Technician is responsible for inspection, testing and repair of the commuter railroad network and communications infrastructure, including voice, data, and signal, and train control, CCTV and network security services.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to the rules & regulations of the Federal Railroad Administration and their Drug & Alcohol policy.
Pay:
Our Communication Technicians can expect to earn an hourly salary $29.99 to 34.02 DOE. Your performance & pay are reviewed yearly.
What Will You Do?
As a Communication Technician, you will:
• Align, adjust, and calibrate instruments by testing equipment per specifications
• Assess faulty equipment, electronic components and circuits to locate defects and diagnose causes of malfunction
• Replace defective wiring and components, and adjust mechanical parts
• Maintain records of inspections, repairs, calibrations, and tests in Asset Works management system
• Maintain the Operations Control Center (OCC) system, responding to trouble reports from end-users
• Coordinate with contractors in maintaining the OCC

What You Will learn?
As a Communication Technician, you will receive classroom and hands-on training as part of a formal training program. We will teach you the dynamic workings of our commuter railroad network, as well as the communication infrastructure.
What You Need to Bring: (Position Requirements)
• Associates degree in electronic/computer technology or equivalent experience
• Minimum 3-year experience working electronic diagnosis and repair preferred
• Experience in railroad train control inspection, maintenance and repair preferred
• Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks with minimal supervision
• Ability to work nights, holidays and weekends, including working overtime as needed
• Must possess a valid state driver’s license
• Must pass a pre-employment physical examination
Physical Requirements:
Candidates can expect to be in a cab for much of their shift you may be required to perform the following physical activities.
• Must be able to climb towers up to 40 feet high.
• Stand for sustained periods and work in outside environmental conditions such as extreme heat or cold.
