Position Summary
The Accounting Section within our Finance Division at Denver Water is looking for an Accountant (Finance Analyst). This position is responsible for accounting operations work including accounts receivable, booking journal entries, account reconciliations, and reporting monthly metrics. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic, have a strong desire and a passion to assist Denver Water to become the “best water utility in the nation.”
Denver Water offers a hybrid flexible work schedule, but this is not a remote work position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Accountant (Finance Analyst)
- Balance daily data transfers from utility billing system to financial system.
- Balance daily bank reports and identify cash types and record in GL.
- Process and allocate payments to miscellaneous accounts receivable (AR) accounts.
- Oversee address book and enter new customers and vendors into system.
- Oversee all aspects of miscellaneous AR billing including contacting customers to collect on aged accounts.
- Enter journal entries for all divisions within the organization.
- Complete account reconciliations at month end.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers regarding invoices and payments.
- Responsible for resolving and completing inquiries and requests to meet deadlines.
- All assignments completed with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Regularly exercise judgment to resolve problems and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Works collaboratively with others, acting as a resource, sharing ideas, recognizing interdependencies.
- Maintains positive, open communication with team and customers, to ensure understanding of expectations and creation of a positive working partnership.
- JD Edwards experience desired or other ERP system.
- Perform related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
- Any equivalent combination of certifications, education, or experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for the position.
Licenses, Registration, and Certifications
- Must complete required HIPAA training within the first 6 months of hire.
Pay Range
Hiring Range: $77,751-$95,029 Annually
Pay Range: $70,238-$102,542 Annually
Salary : $70,238 - $102,542
