What are the responsibilities and job description for the Oral Surgical Assistant position at Denville Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery?
Responsibilities:
- Assist surgeons during surgical procedures in office setting; includes IV sedation to local anesthetic, as well as reviewing health history and vitals of patients during consult appointments.
- Prepare operating rooms and ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available
- Maintain a sterile environment by following strict infection control protocols
- Hand instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures
- Suture incisions and apply dressings as directed by the surgeon
- Monitor patients' vital signs and assist with patient care before, during, and after surgery
- Document patient information, surgical procedures, and other relevant data in medical records
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Surgical Assistant or similar role preferred
- Familiarity with medical terminology and surgical procedures
- Proficiency in using WinOMS, Epic or other electronic medical record systems
- Strong analytical skills to assess patient needs and assist surgeons effectively
Skills:
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
- Attention to detail to ensure accuracy in documentation and patient care
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Knowledge of infection control practices to maintain a safe surgical environment
-x-ray license perferred
