The Division of Medi-Cal Fraud and Elder Abuse is looking for a talented Research Data Specialist I – this is an opportunity highly qualified applicants should not miss.
Under the general direction of the Supervising Management Auditor (SMA), independently and collaboratively conducts data mining and data analytics in order to identify and track aberrant patterns and trends of fraud, waste, and abuse in the service of DMFEA’s mission. The incumbent will be responsible for performing analyses of data obtained from various sources in order to develop, maintain, manage, and trend fraud investigation cases; developing and/or applying algorithms and queries to identify and track patterns of fraud and abuse/neglect, as well as identifying and tracking patterns and trends of aberrations in conduct; analyzing and assessing data mined from various sources, including from randomly sampled claims data, to test for compliance with relevant billing and claims-processing guidelines that affect all forms of healthcare delivery in public health programs; and preparing and presenting written and verbal reports that help identify particular areas of fraud, waste, and abuse that are ripe for focused investigative development and strategic case management, mainly where such harms affect the Medicaid program (including as to managed care) and as to elders and dependents falling within the scope of the Division's mission. The Research Data Specialist I will be able to summarize findings and be able to communicate those findings in writing and verbally.
