Salem, Oregon
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 3:30 pm
Salary: $3,429 - $4,622 monthly
The Oregon Department of Administrative Services (DAS) is the backbone of Oregon’s state government, providing essential services that keep things running smoothly. Our Publishing & Distribution team plays a key role in delivering important materials to agencies and citizens across the state.
As a Mail Delivery Driver, you’ll drive a state vehicle on a regular route around the Willamette Valley, picking up and dropping off mail, packages, and time-sensitive documents. Rain or shine, you’ll help keep things moving with care, accuracy, and top-notch customer service.
A typical day might include:
- Drive a state vehicle (0.5 to 1.5-ton) on assigned delivery routes.
- Pick up and deliver USPS and interoffice mail, packages, and confidential documents.
- Scan barcodes and collect signatures to track deliveries.
- Sort, load, and unload items for delivery.
- Keep to a schedule, maintain vehicle, and follow safety rules.
- Support warehouse and mailroom operations when needed.
- Provide friendly, respective service to every customer.
Working Conditions
The following activities are performed daily both indoors and outdoors under all types of weather conditions: walking, bending, stooping, pulling, lifting and carrying heavy loads of up to 50 lbs., operation of a sprinter van or similar delivery vehicles within assigned area experiencing all types of traffic conditions.
What We Are Looking For
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two (2) years of experience operating vehicles to deliver mail, parcels, or merchandise.
Special Qualifications:
- You are required to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license issued by the state where you reside.
Desired Attributes:
- Experience delivering mail to business and/or residential addresses in all types of weather and traffic conditions.
- Experience driving a half-ton or larger vehicle.
- Experience using barcode scanners and delivery tools like hand trucks, electric pallet jacks, dock lift gates
- Ability to use Microsoft Office software (specifically Outlook and Excel).
- Experience providing excellent customer service and treating everyone with respect.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for customers and coworkers.
- Preference may be given to those with experience working with DAS Shuttle & Delivery Services for Publishing & Distribution.
