What You’ll Do:
As our Service and Repair Supervisor, you’ll lead a diverse team of skilled maintenance professionals who keep our state-owned buildings safe and operational. You'll coordinate repairs, direct preventative maintenance, and manage special projects across a variety of systems, from HVAC and plumbing to electrical and carpentry.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach, and support a diverse maintenance team.
  • Oversee repair and maintenance of building systems and equipment.
  • Plan and assign daily work, projects, and preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Track maintenance activities and budgets using our electronic system (SPAN-FM).
  • Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and agency partners
  • Promote a culture of safety, respect, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions:
This role offers variety. You work in a fast-paced office environment and also may be exposed to adverse weather conditions, working on ladders and scaffolding, in areas with poor lighting, noise and has a risk of injury if safety rules are not followed. Special Working Conditions for State Medical Examiner's Office, State Police Forensics Laboratory, Occupational Health Lab (OR OSHA), Environmental and Biological Lab (DEQ/PHL lab) may occasionally apply.
What We Are Looking For:
Minimum Qualifications (must have):
Three years of lead work, foreman work, or supervision;
OR
One year of experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position AND completion of an accredited vocational-training or construction-training program *related to the class concept;
OR
One year of *related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field;
OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Related experience and/or education must include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or other trades experience.
Desired Attributes:
  • Experience supervising and supporting a diverse team, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work; training staff; and promoting an inclusive and equitable workplace.
  • Working knowledge and hands-on experience with multiple trades, including electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and carpentry, as well as familiarity with construction materials and maintenance best practices.
  • Ability to estimate resources, schedule tasks, and manage complex maintenance projects from start to finish.
  • Proven ability to make sound, timely decisions regarding building systems, equipment, and maintenance operations with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly and work effectively under pressure.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and provide effective service when working with difficult or upset customers or tenants.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving issues related to building systems, equipment, and operational challenges through research and analysis.
