Job Duties
- Performance Management (for employees who supervise others)
- Expectations are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department or unit;
- Staff receive frequent, constructive feedback, including interim evaluations as appropriate;
- Staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals; Department heads will ensure that supervisory staff complete the MVP training as well as supervisory/other training annually or as required.
- The requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system are met and evaluations are completed by established deadlines with proper documentation;
- Performance issues are addressed and documented as they occur.
- Safety issues are reviewed and communicated to assure a safe and healthy workplace and a reduction in work related absences.
- Directs Psychosocial Rehabilitation Department
- In accordance with applicable state, federal, third-party regulations, hospital and department policies, and with established timeframes and budget:
- Directs and coordinates the services delivered by the Psychosocial Rehabilitation Department
- Manages the Rehabilitative Services Contract and monitors ongoing communication with individuals providing services.
- Ensures PSR and Rehabilitative Services contract staff compliance with all policies, procedures and regulatory standards.
- Manages annual budget, orders necessary supplies and equipment.
- Conducts staff meetings, staff evaluations and competency assessments exhibiting effective and appropriate communication skills.
- Develop reporting and auditing systems to evaluate the quality of services with the goals to increase and enhance treatment quality and provide individualized treatment programs and plans in a timely and effective manner.
- Ensure compliance with facility goals and objectives and meet or exceed external regulations, standards and directives.
- Develop continuous performance improvement indicators and prepare reports as required. Incorporate and involve staff in improvement efforts.
- Maintains and adapts all treatment mall programming as evidenced by keeping the Active Treatment Manual up to date
- Coordinates daily coverage of treatment groups for the PSR and PES positions
- Works with IT Director to make any necessary changes to HOPS Tx Plan and relays any necessary changes to TPC Coordinators and Treatment Plan Authors
- Provision of Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services
- Attend and actively participate in treatment team meetings.
- Assist treatment team with development of treatment plans to include appropriate goals/objectives/plans of treatment for PSR and OT services.
- Assist in the establishment of an individualized schedule of therapeutic activities based on assessed needs.
- Plan, develop and implement delivery of services to meet these needs in a timely and effective manner.
- Complete all medical record documentation and patient assessments within the established time frames per policy.
- Program Development and Facilitation
- Collaborates with Chief Clinical Officer and other clinical department heads in the development and implementation of therapeutic on and off-unit based activities as evidenced by positive feedback re: quality, timeliness, appropriateness of his ideas/suggestions. Programming is developed in support of recovery principles.
- Ensures services are age appropriate and meet the assessed needs of all patients.
- Advises the Chief Clinical Officer regarding evaluation and documentation of effective treatment interventions for all clinical departments.
- Maintains ongoing effective communication with all staff, serving as a role model for therapeutic interventions, particularly those related to recovery and risk reduction.
- Serves on PI teams and committees as assigned with meaningful participation.
- Training
- Plans and conducts training with Psychosocial Rehabilitation staff and hospital employees in a timely fashion and based on identified needs.
- Oversees the management and enhancement of all PSR Therapy student affiliations between colleges/universities
- Coordinates scheduling of student to include orientation and supervision.
- Maintains positive relationships with local universities and coordinates/supervises all Music Therapy interns, or designates supervision of these interns
- Participate in and conduct in-service training for staff members from varied disciplines as it relates to Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services.
- Presents one Journal Club and Grand Rounds annually.
- Visits at least one mental health community advocacy group meeting annually – e.g., NAMI, MHA, Alzheimer’s Association.
- All other duties as assigned by Chief Clinical Officer
- Behavior Interaction & Management Techniques
- Participates in certification/re-certification program in behavior interaction management techniques; appropriately applies verbal and physical techniques according to DBHDS approved program.
- Graduate degree in Mental Health, Human Services or a Clinical specialty from an accredited college/university
- Experience with planning, developing, integrating, and coordinating active treatment programs required.
- Supervisory experience required.
- Licensure or certification in clinical specialty required.
- Background in program development and management preferred.
- Experience in a public mental health setting preferred.
