Under California Government Code 14200, this position is eligible for hybrid telework for eligible applicants residing in California. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the department and is subject to change as business needs arise. Candidates who reside outside of California may be interviewed; however, the selected candidate must have a primary residency in California prior to appointment (and continue to maintain California residency) as a condition of employment. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the job offer being rescinded. In accordance with CSD’s Policy Directive 22-001, all telework employees utilize a shared workspace or “hotel” space when working on-site and may be required to report in-person to headquarters and/or off-site locations more frequently as determined by management. The Department reserves the right to modify or cancel telework agreements and/or conditions as needed.

Under the general direction of the Community Services Branch Chief, the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I) is responsible for managing a broad array of compliance, programmatic, planning and policy related duties by working closely with the Branch Chief, Field Operations Unit manager and other department managers. The SSM I is responsible for overseeing the Unit responsible for the federal programmatic reporting, coordinating contractor payments, program development and implementation, training and technical assistance and customer services. This position is a working supervisor level and typically performs the most difficult or sensitive tasks.

The Department of Community Services and Development (CSD) is a small department under the umbrella of the California Health and Human Services Agency (CalHHS), consisting of approximately 130 staff.
