Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist (Supervisor), the Psychologist- Clinical (CF) will administer violence risk assessments pursuant to Title 15 CDCR, Division 2, Chapter 3, §2240 in support of the Board of Parole Hearings’ consideration of inmates’ parole suitability. Individual workload management and adherence to deadlines is crucial.

The California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation (CDCR) Headquarters has implemented a new automated system to streamline the hiring process. The Human Resources Technology System (HRTS) is an intuitive, user-friendly system that provides the applicant access to real-time updates throughout the hiring process. HRTS will require new candidates to set up an account, which allows them to track their application’s progress. Through their account portal, candidates will also be able to provide any additional information needed in the hiring process, including setting up interviews as needed. After the final filing date, applicants will receive an email from DoNotReply@cdcr.ns2cloud.com or DoNotReply@CDCR (depending on the email provider), with direction on creating and/or accessing their account.

Working Conditions

Remote-centered employees are expected to maintain a safe and distraction free work environment at the approved alternate work location. Remote-Centered employees agree to adhere to the state telework policy, CDCR's telework policy, and conditions cited in the Telework Agreement (STD 200).

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The Psychologist may be seated/assigned an open office with cubicles that may or may not be shared with staff in different civil service classifications.

Travel to Correctional Institutions may be required. Positions will be filled throughout the State.

  • The position(s) require(s) a(n) California Board of Psychology License. You will be required to provide a copy of your license prior to being hired.

Candidates new to CDCR/CCHCS are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, as well as a Tuberculosis test/evaluation prior to appointment, followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.

Statement Of Qualifications - Writing Sample and Resume

Specialized training in forensic psychology and administration of violence risk assessments, ideally including the HCR-20v3 and the Static-99R. A writing sample of a forensic evaluation, preferably a violence risk assessment, is required.
