This position is Management Service. This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Duties / Position Overview
As the Assistant Food Services Manager, you will supervise the use of storage for preservation of perishable and non-perishable food items. Maintain control of inventories and food purchases. Conduct daily shift inspections of the Food Service staff and of the deliveries of services and supplies to ensure compliance with Department of Corrections Rules and Procedures, Administrative Directives, all applicable Federal and State Health and Safety Standards and American Correctional Association Accreditation Standards. Train staff and adults in custody (AICs) workers in food preparation, food handling, use of equipment, fire safety, personal hygiene, sanitation, and safety. Provide orientation for all new AIC workers outlining the Food Service operation, expectations, and available opportunities in the varying work assignments.
You will assume the position of Food Service Manager in his/her absence. Maintain order and enforces operational security procedures. Review and approve written discipline of AIC workers. Review menus to ensure the nutritional requirements of AICs are met.

Minimum Qualifications
Four years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.
OR
One year of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

Working Conditions
Will be expected to share the mission, vision, and core values of the department; requires being a role model of pro-social behavior and having an attitude that conveys dignity and respect in the treatment of others. Must be able to acknowledge that everyone is capable of positive change.
Work is performed within the confines of a large, medium-security correctional facility. Routine, continual, direct contact with convicted male felons is required. Continuous contact and exposure to hostile and/or potentially violent behavior of AICs. Responsible for taking immediate corrective action when dealing one-to-one with AICs, daily. Physical exertion may be required in responding to AICs out of control behavior, restraining AICs, breaking up fights, coming to the aid of other staff members, etc. May be exposed to communicable diseases. Subject to Callback in the event of an emergency or work stoppage and is subject to assignment in any position or area of the institution. May serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and/or any shift. Daily work in a highly active and noisy area, with the work being completed on schedule.
