The Snake River Correctional Institution is seeking a dedicated and detail-orientated Office Specialist 2 to join our Security Administration.
About the Job – Your Role
This position will serve as the primary confidential support for the institution security management and will adapt to shifting duties as operational needs change. Responsibilities include providing confidential clerical support for security functions, ensuring compliance with all established policies and procedures, and collaborating with other office specialists. The ideal candidate will assist in ordering supplies, tracking and processing unusual incident reports, maintaining filing systems, and offering back-up support to the executive support specialist 1 and other support personnel. A strong commitment to confidentiality, organizational skills, and the ability to work in a dynamic environment are essential to be successful in this position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents;

An associate degree in any field;

Requested Skills:
- Experience interpreting and applying statutes, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines;
- Preparing a variety of reports, memos, different types of correspondence (proofreads documents for general clarity, punctuation, grammar, spelling, capitalization and typographical errors);
- Maintaining information in a database;
- Experience answering communications;
- Receiving and sorting incoming and outgoing mail;
- Managing and working with confidential and sensitive information;
- Navigating and running reports or utilizing dashboards;
- Experience with programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Adobe Pro;
- Maintaining physical and electronic filing;
- Experience taking meeting minutes.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with AS400 system;
- Experience with AFAMIS system;
- Experience working in a law enforcement or correctional environment;
- Certified in LEDS (Law Enforcement Data System).

Working Conditions:
Work is performed in a prison housing maximum, close, medium, and minimum-security adults in custody (AICs). There is an inherent responsibility to provide assistance through recall and/or reassignment during adult in custody unrest and other emergency situations occurring at the institution.
The institution is located in Eastern Oregon and is exposed to temperature extremes and inclement weather. SRCI is climate controlled. This institution has over 1 million square feet of building space and is spread out over a 103-acre perimeter, in addition to a minimum facility outside the perimeter. Waiting long distances to get to the workstation or perform work will be required. Most AIC housing units are on two levels requiring the use of stirs to reach the second level.
All employees are required to use a computer for e-mail and related AIC work systems in the regular performance of their duties.
Performance of the position involves sitting for long periods of time and may at times involve standing for long periods of time, such as, in the delivery of training or in community contract situations. Also necessary is the operation of computer video equipment for word processing, electronic mail and other specialized program access/usage, potentially for long periods of time.
Office Specialist 2s are hired to the classification and are subject to being moved to other Office Specialist 2 work assignments within the institution to meet the operational needs of the agency.

Requirements for Employment
The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
