Job Summary
The Physician (Occupational Medicine) is responsible for diagnosing and treating patients with occupational illnesses and injuries. They determine the need for various diagnostic procedures, order lab tests, and interpret results to make diagnoses of diseases and disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Performs job-related medical examinations, including pre-placement, pre-assignment, and periodic job-related medical surveillance.
- Investigates apparent or suspected occupational illnesses or injuries.
- Monitors illness absence by evaluating or reviewing medical information on employee returning to work.
- Identifies and evaluates employees with chronic diseases or handicaps, and makes work assignment recommendations.
- Supervises employees engaged in the execution, evaluation, and analysis of Occupational Health programs.
Requirements
- Must possess a Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada.
- Must have had at least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting.
- Must be credentialed through the Hospital Credentials Committee as a provider in accordance with Defense Health Agency and other applicable regulations and directives.
- Must be licensed to practice medicine from a U.S. State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
