This position is located in the Medical Department of Porterville Developmental Center (PDC).
Under general medical direction, the Respiratory Care Supervisor (RCS) plans, directs, and supervises the Respiratory Care Program at PDC. They are responsible for coordinating these activities with other interdisciplinary services of the facility and participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Teams where appropriate. The RCS develops policies and procedures ensuring that licensing requirements, standards and goals of the facility are met. Additionally, the RCS performs respiratory therapy and other related work.

Working Conditions
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength (lift up to 50 pounds without assistance), agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Ongoing interaction with clients, personnel and the general public. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment.
Level of Care Employees will be required to perform the following Essential Functions: Must be able to lift 50 pounds without assistance; must be able to participate in client containment, intervention or restraint; must have the ability to work extended hours and various shifts; must float to all work areas within the facility if called upon to do so.

Department Information
The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.
These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
