Under the general direction of the Chief, Office of Human Rights and Advocacy (OHRAS), the incumbent is responsible for coordinating efforts to provide and/or promote equal opportunity in all aspects of employment. The incumbent ensures the Department of Developmental Services (Department) takes appropriate, effective action in response to Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)-related complaints; monitors efforts to provide reasonable accommodation for employees and job applicants; plans, develops, and implements strategies and initiatives to foster a diverse and inclusive workforce; develops and delivers EEO-related training and other resources; prepares narrative and statistical reports; and provides technical assistance as an EEO subject matter expert. Some travel may be required.
This position provides hybrid telework opportunities, with employees required to work in-person at least two days per week. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees will be required to work in-person at least four days per week in alignment with Executive Order N-22-25.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an open-partitioned office environment and/or through telework. Use of a computer up to 100 percent of the time. Positions self to organize materials on shelves and in cabinets in various configurations. Moves equipment and materials weighing up to 30 lbs. Moves about the office environment to assist customers. This position is eligible to participate in the Department’s’ hybrid telework schedule. Participation in telework is subject to the Department’s guidelines.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

The DDS is located in a modern, sustainable and innovative office building at 1215 “O” Street, Sacramento, California. Some amenities of the building include:
  • First floor retail space (separate access from 12th Street)
  • Café with multiple vendors
  • Outdoor seating for meal breaks
  • Employee fitness center which includes a yoga studio, cardio equipment and weights
  • Plaza area with kitchenette on each floor
  • Lactation rooms

Special Requirements
