What are the responsibilities and job description for the EDUCATION ADMINISTRATOR I position at Department of Education?

Under the general direction from the Director of the Career and College Transition Division, and the Deputy Superintendent of the Student Success and Career Readiness Branch, the Education Administrator I manages the Agricultural Education & Family and Consumer Sciences Office (AEFCS).

Responsibilities include providing leadership, managerial direction, and supervision of professional education, analytical, and support staff for the educational program responsibilities assigned to the unit. The unit is responsible for professional development, curriculum and instructional materials development, development of content and performance standards, program evaluation and conducting programs for leadership and interpersonal skill development for students studying Agriculture and Family and Consumer Sciences. The administrator serves as the state advisor to the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) student organizations.

Duties include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Liaison with Related Groups
  • Strategies and Policies
  • Participation in Meetings
  • Staff Supervision
  • Administrative Responsibilities

Working Conditions

TELEWORK OPTION

This position is headquartered in Sacramento and may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for eligible applicants residing in California. A hybrid telework schedule includes working remotely and physically reporting to the office.

Department Information

STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS

Interested individuals MUST submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) with their application. Resumes, letters, and other materials do not take the place of the SOQ. The SOQ should have a title of “Statement of Qualifications, Your Name,” be no more than 2 pages, no smaller than 12-point font, and address the following:


  • Describe your leadership style and how it would enable you to effectively work with unit staff, division staff, and other state and local agencies.
  • Describe administrative experiences you have that will help you as the manager for Agricultural Education and FFA.
  • Describe your administrative experiences in planning, delivering, and implementing statewide programs in agricultural education.
  • Describe how you would work with the California Legislature and the Department of Finance to validate their investment in Career Technical Education.
  • Describe the skills you have that will enable you, as a state leader, to propose, analyze, and implement state policy.

  • Ability to meet deadlines, take initiative, and work independently and in a team environment.
