The Accounting Administrator (AA) II will supervise a team responsible for providing support for the FI$Cal system. The incumbent will be knowledgeable in Bond and Deal Management Accounting for departments and will develop, test, and address system enhancements and functionality. The incumbent will apply knowledge of governmental accounting for General Ledger, Commitment Control, Bond and Deal Management Accounting modules. This will include: considering end-to-end processes, applying a broad understanding of the mission critical responsibilities, and major functional aspects of the System.

Working Conditions

This position requires prolonged sitting in an office-setting environment with the use of a personal computer. Department Information

Our department develops, maintains and operates FI$Cal, the statewide financial system. The FI$Cal system modernized how the state of California manages its finances and is one of the largest and most dynamic IT and business-transformation undertakings in California’s history. It eliminates the need for hundreds of independent legacy systems by combining the state’s accounting, budgeting, cash management, and procurement operations into a single financial-management system.

Our mission is to operate the statewide financial system to enable California to perform budgeting, procurement, cash management and accounting functions transparently and efficiently.

Our department has four Divisions: Administrative Services, Business Operation & Solutions, Information Technology and Executive.


This position is located in the Business Operation & Solutions Division:

Business Operation & Solutions Division (BOSD), whose central mission is to ensure the effective delivery and positive reception of the FI$Cal solution. BOSD continues to provide effective support services, both onsite and remotely, to departmental stakeholders as it has in the past. BOSD also works closely with Partner Agencies to support month-end and year-end close.

Special Requirements

  • The position(s) require(s) a Background Investigation be cleared prior to being hired.
  • The incumbent will use tact and interpersonal skills to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, e.g., stakeholders, customers, management, peers, etc., to facilitate communication to improve the work environment and increase productivity.
  • This position requires the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and may require excess hours to be worked.
  • The incumbent provides back-up, as necessary, to ensure continuity of departmental activities.
  • This position may require the use of a hand-cart to transport documents and/or equipment over 20 pounds.

Conflict of Interest, Form 700 Filers

This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year thereafter.
