Under the close supervision of the Senior Accounting Officer (Supervisor), the Accountant Trainee, as a learner, will perform professional accounting duties while receiving training, related to the review, audit, and reconcile various vouchers; resolve various payment and supplier problems.
The position is headquartered in the Natural Resources Building located in downtown Sacramento. The office is right next to Light Rail for an easy commute and features ergonomic furniture, panoramic downtown views, a free employee gym, a cafeteria and bodega, and adjacent childcare.
In order to be eligible for this position, you must either be transfer eligible or take and pass the following exam.

Working Conditions
Ability to use a computer keyboard several hours a day. Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods. Work with staff statewide to complete work assignments. Overtime may be required and limited time-off during the year-end Financial Statement period. Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings via private or public transportation. Headquartered in a high-rise building. Position may be eligible for a hybrid telework schedule depending on operational needs.

Have excellent analytical skills, oral communication skills, and the ability to multitask under pressure. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Interpersonal Skills: Work in a team setting. Create and maintain intermediate leveled Excel worksheet and word documents; identify, analyze, research, and solve problems as necessary; effectively and efficiently communicate with employees and outside vendors. Ability to apply analytical skills and computer knowledge.
