Job Description:
Help the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife fulfill its mission: To protect and enhance Oregon's fish and wildlife and their habitats for use and enjoyment by present and future generations.
We are hiring for two seasonal, full-time positions based out of Corvallis, Oregon. NOTE: While this position will be based out of Corvallis, the field work will be located in the Lahontan desert. During sampling weeks, the project’s employees will be camping near the study area.
Anticipated Duration:
June 4, 2025 – August 13, 2025

What you will do:
The primary purpose of this position is to conduct field surveys to assess the status of Lahontan Cutthroat Trout populations and other fisheries and aquatic resources and maintain quality control of the information. This will require collection of information on fish species composition, distribution, and abundance in streams and standing waters.

What we are looking for:
Requirements/Requested Skills: Minimum qualifications are not established for these positions; however, we are seeking applicants with skills and experience in backpack electrofishing, identifying juvenile fish species (especially salmonids), stream habitat surveys, fish or wildlife field work, collecting and accurately recording field data, hiking and camping, and basic computer skills, and who possess or are in pursuit of a Fisheries or Wildlife Science degree or related degree in biological/ecological sciences. Preference for interviews may be given to candidates with this background.
