Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Supervision: Direct and oversee a diverse team involved in statewide fisheries programs. We value leadership that brings different perspectives to the table, enhancing our mission to preserve California’s aquatic biodiversity.
Policy & Regulation Development: Lead the development, modification, and implementation of fisheries policies and regulations. Your work will ensure that our management practices are aligned with the latest scientific research and environmental laws.
Program Management: Coordinate statewide programs, including the Federal Aid in Sport Fish Restoration Program. While prior experience in program management is valuable, we welcome candidates who bring strong project management skills from related fields and are eager to grow in this area.
Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as the Fisheries Branch Tribal Coordinator, fostering partnerships with Tribal communities and representing CDFW in various forums. Your efforts will ensure that diverse perspectives are integrated into our conservation and management strategies.
Strategic Planning & Innovation: Lead the planning and execution of new research initiatives to address emerging challenges in fisheries management. Your strategic vision will help CDFW stay ahead of ecological threats and adapt to changing environmental conditions.

Working Conditions
The position requires the use of a computer for several hours each day, the completion of office tasks that require sitting, standing, and moving to other locations; in-person and virtual attendance at meetings. The position may require travel throughout the State including overnight travel, early mornings, late nights, and weekend work.
