Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced dentist to join our team as a Pediatric Dentist. The successful candidate will work closely with the Chief Dentist to plan and manage dental operating room programs and other collaborations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide pediatric dental services in outreach locations, collaborating hospitals, OR and same day surgery centers, and multiple IHS dental clinics.
- Maintain patient's treatment record, including oral conditions of teeth and surrounding tissues, clinical notes, appointments, and treatment administered.
- Aide other dentists in their treatment planning and treatment of more complex dental problems with minor children and adults with special needs.
- Perform root canal therapy and other pulpal therapy, including pulpal regeneration, apexification, apexogenesis, pulpotomies, pulpectomies, and root canals of permanent teeth.
Requirements and Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be a U.S. citizen.
- Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- Meet the minimum qualifications stated below.
Minimum Qualifications
You must have at least three years of professional dentistry experience and/or training, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the Federal service. Examples include:
- Experience in providing pediatric dental services to youth, preventative services, clinical and radiographic examinations, and emergency services.
- Successfully completed a 3-year residency program in dentistry, oral health, craniofacial sciences, or a related medical science.
Education Requirements
This position has an education requirement. You must submit transcripts or a list of your courses, including titles, credit hours completed, and grades.

Per IHS policy, selectees must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before entry on duty or have IHS approve a medical or religious exemption.
