Duties As a Supervisory Health Scientist, you will : Division Director responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating the programs of the Detect and Monitor Division.Assure reasonable equity (among units, groups, teams, projects, etc.) of performance standards and rating techniques developed by subordinates or assuring comparable equity in the assessment by subordinates of the adequacy of contractor capabilities or of contractor completed work.Review and approve serious disciplinary actions (e.g., suspensions) involving nonsupervisory subordinates.Execute the administrative and personnel management responsibilities related to the accomplishment of the mission assigned.Coordinates research activities, legislative proposals, regulations, policies, program issues, and resources.Collaborate with organizations including complex public health data modernization projects, programs, and involves multiple professional disciplines (medicine, public health, epidemiology, laboratory sciences).Requirements Conditions of EmploymentDue to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ : US Citizenship required.Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service ().May be subject to a Background / Security Investigation. Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify). If selected, CDC will determine your employment eligibility using your social security number.Direct deposit is required.One-year probationary period may be required.This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.Candidates must have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities. A supervisory probationary period may be required. Applicants should describe any previous experience or responsibilities which could be used in relation to the supervisory requirements of this position.This position may be subject to the OGE Financial Disclosure requirements of the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 (P.L. 95-521). If selected, you may be required to complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450) to determine if a conflict or an appearance of a conflict exists between your financial interest and your prospective position with the agency. If identified, this will be an annual requirement.In accordance with Executive Order 12564 of September 15, 1986, The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is A Drug-Free Federal Workplace. This position may require a Drug Test and be subject to Random Drug Testing. The position may require the submission of a urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and be subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing upon hiring. If required to submit to urinalysis, the appointment to the position will be contingent upon a negative test result. Qualifications All qualification requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.Basic Qualifications : Bachelor's or graduate / higher level degree : major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. This degree must be from an educational program from an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.Minimum Qualifications : To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, you must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-14 grade level, which must include the following experience : providing program leadership and / or guidance in short and long-range planning for division programs and functions. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Education A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience. An official transcript will be required if you are selected.A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
