Job Description
The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and coordinate the Diabetes Program for the department and facility. The caseload will involve a full range of cases, including very difficult and complex cases within the specialty.
Key Responsibilities
- Assign work to employees in an efficient and equitable manner to achieve satisfactory quality of patient care.
- Assure responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention, therapy, and case management of patients with diabetes or at risk for diabetes.
- Take primary responsibility for the program, including budget, personnel, clinical services, projects, and other services.
Requirements
- Hold a Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent degree from a school in the United States or Canada.
- Possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
- Have had at least 1 year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting, such as a 1-year internship or the first year of a residency program in a hospital or an institution accredited for such training.
- Meet additional requirements for Grades GS-12 and above, including Board Certification in Family Practice or Internal Medicine.
