The Managed Care Quality and Monitoring Division has an opening for a Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) located at 1501 Capitol Ave, Sacramento, CA 95814.
In the Managed Care Quality and Monitoring Division, under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Health Program Specialist I (HPS I) is a highly skilled program specialist in the areas of policy development, implementation, and evaluation related to the Medi-Cal Managed Care program. The HPS I performs functions that are sensitive and critical to the Department's basic mission, with responsibility to coordinate various projects including the development of broad policy that has multi-department, immediate, and long-range impacts, and where the level of expertise required is substantially greater than that of other nonsupervisory positions. The incumbent will have established expertise and knowledge of the Medi-Cal managed care program and health care delivery system and will serve as subject matter expert and project coordinator to facilitate and lead successful projects related to compliance oversight and monitoring, including but not limited to the Cancer Care Equity Act (SB 987, chaptered on 09/27/2022) and quarterly monitoring of Medi-Cal Managed Care Plan (MCP) compliance and member issues.
This position has been advertised as Limited-Term and is expected to last 12 months. This Limited-term position may be extended 24 months if supported by workload or may become permanent if workload become permeant.

Working Conditions
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
