Advanced Medical Practitioner

Job Description
As an Advanced Medical Practitioner with the Department of Homeland Security, you will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare services to detainees at Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, analytical abilities, and strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Direct Care: Provide medical care to detainees through scheduled appointments, emergency, or urgent care visits.
2. Collaboration: Consult with the physician/Clinical Director for complex medical and/or psychiatric patients.
3. Scope of Practice: Work within and perform functions as outlined in the IHSC Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Scope of Practice.
4. Healthcare Coordination: Coordinate health care needs of detainees including referrals to off-site consultants.
5. Diagnostic Interpretation: Interpret diagnostic and laboratory results.
6. Therapy Management: Manage Direct Observation Therapy (DOT) for treatment of active or latent tuberculosis.
7. Infection Control: Take appropriate infection control actions in accordance with IHSC policy and guidance.
8. Universal Precautions: Adhere to universal precautions and properly dispose of all sharps.
9. Flexibility: Maintain flexibility and adaptability to sudden changes in schedules and work requirements.
10. Patient Education: Provide relevant patient health education to detainees verbally and/or with handouts.
11. Documentation: Document detainee care visits in the required health record using required format, in compliance with IHSC policy and guidance.
