SUMMARY OF DUTIES
As an Adult Protective Service Specialist you will receive referrals and determine the need for and investigates alleged incidents of adult abuse or neglect. Situations may involve physical abuse, neglect and abandonment, sexual abuse, psychological and verbal abuse, financial exploitation, and other types of self-neglect.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's Degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and two years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience;
OR
An Associate's Degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences and four years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
Three years professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the Bachelor's degree; 18 months for an Associates.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES:
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Experience communicating and problem solving in a complex situation to reach an agreed upon resolution.
- Experience interpreting and explaining rules and/or regulations.
- Experiencing interviewing people to gather information.
- Experience working with difficult clients and/or customers in challenging situations.
- Experience in report writing and caseload management.

WORKING CONDITIONS
Must be able to drive and meet with individuals in their homes, community settings, nursing homes, or other care settings. A valid driver’s license is required and an acceptable driving record.
