Summary of Duties
As an Engagement Specialist (Social Services Specialist 2) you will:

Works collaboratively with Family Coaches to better serve at-risk families to identify issues, develop service plans, and refer to appropriate resources.
Staff Training
Organizes, co-ordinates, and provides training relative to screening and assessment, strength identification, service planning, coaching and motivation strategies and other approaches for engaging customers in activities related to family stability and employment.
Professional Development
Participates in work related training opportunities provided by the department.
Minimum Qualifications
A bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or related field AND one year experience with responsibility for child welfare case management (i.e., managing a caseload that involved case planning, placement decisions, child protection issues, or treatment interventions); OR
A bachelor's degree in any field AND two years of experience managing a child welfare caseload that involved case planning, placement decisions, child protection issues, or treatment interventions; OR
An associate degree in any field AND three years of experience managing a child welfare caseload that involved case planning, placement decisions, child protection issues, or treatment interventions.

Working Conditions
Employee’s work is conducted in offices, participant’s homes and other program sites. Employee has contact with a wide range of people including some exhibiting anger and frustration. Participants may be drug or alcohol-affected and in need of treatment. The employee will be exposed to and need to deal with a range of emotionally charged issues, confronting where necessary.
Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. If no driver’s license, must be able to provide alternate method of transportation. Some overnight travel may be required to attend statewide meeting and trainings.
Requires cultural/racial diversity and sensitivity.
Hours of work may vary from day to day and may include evenings and weekends. Overtime must be pre-approved by a manager.
