Our Office Specialists are essential in providing clerical support to caseworkers and supervisors at the Child Welfare agency. You will use different search engines to carry out comprehensive and relevant searches. Work closely with the search team and caseworkers to gather information and document findings.
We are seeking a Search Specialist (Office Specialists 2) to join our Seaside Child Welfare team.
Summary of Duties

- Use a variety of search engines to perform comprehensive relative searches, including Accurint, Birth/Death/Marriage/Divorce Browse (OVERS), general internet searches, social media, Ancestry.com, and DHS Systems (DHR/Or-Kids).
- Working knowledge of statewide Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) Search protocol and D1 ICWA Resource guide. Notify caseworkers of ICWA eligibility when determined. Code case in OR-Kids after ICWA eligibility is determined.
- Collaborate with the search team and caseworkers to gather information and compile letters.
- Record and upload the search findings in OR-Kids for documentation purposes.
- Keep detailed search logs to track the progress and completion of the search efforts.
- Ensure that the search process is thorough, well-documented, and successfully carried out.
- Provide support for reception and front desk duties during designated hours from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of general clerical experience that includes keyboarding, word processing, or other experience generating documents; OR
An associate degree in any field; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Attributes
We are looking for candidates with:
- Demonstrated experience of organizational skills including multi-tasking, ensuring deadlines are achieved.
- Experience in performing tasks that demand precision and attention to detail.
- Experience using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Internet Explorer or other browser, and other computer application.
- Experience handling and maintaining confidential information.
- Experience with search and investigation functions.

Working Conditions
- This is in an in-person position, work will be conducted in office.
- There may be prolonged periods of sitting or standing in front of a computer. You will be working in an open office environment with noise from telephones, printers and other staff.
- The nature of conversations you may overhear may include uncomfortable topics related to child abuse and neglect.
- The employee must be able to work with frequent interruptions or distractions.
- Position may require some travel to do purchases with SPOTS card.
- A valid driver’s license from the state in which they reside is required and must have an acceptable driving record as determined by the Background Check Unit.
- Occasional compensated overtime during evening or weekend hours may be required.
- You may interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions. The duties in this position include work with challenging and sometimes hostile clients; and continuous pressure to meet deadlines.
