Job Description

The New York City Department of Investigation (“DOI”) is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds.

The Department of Investigation is seeking a Digital Forensic Analyst. The selected candidate will support a variety of confidential investigations by retrieving, reviewing, and examining digital evidence from electronic devices such as laptops, desktop computers, servers, mobile devices, tablets, and CCTV systems. Additionally, the candidate will establish and preserve the chain of custody for digital evidence, log and secure property, assist with computer-related search warrants, and collaborate with a team of investigators and/or consultants to complete investigative activities. This position involves working with the Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit, which is responsible for, but not limited to, leading cybersecurity related investigations and conducting Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) research for investigative staff. The Department of Investigation is actively seeking a skilled Digital Forensic Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this critical role, you will play a vital part in supporting a range of confidential investigations by expertly retrieving, reviewing, and analyzing digital evidence from diverse electronic devices, including laptops, desktop computers, servers, mobile devices, tablets, and CCTV systems. Your responsibilities will include establishing and maintaining the chain of custody for digital evidence, logging and securing property, aiding in computer-related search warrants, and collaborating closely with a dedicated team of investigators and consultants to advance our investigative efforts. You will also work alongside the Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit, which is responsible for leading cybersecurity related investigations and conducting Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) research for investigative staff.
Join us in making a meaningful impact on public safety and justice!

If selected, the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background investigation. Due to the position consisting of law enforcement and/or investigative functions, the candidate's consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation as permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).

Please do not email, mail or fax your resume to DOI directly. Submissions of resumes does not guarantee an interview. Due to the high volume of resumes DOI receives for positions, only selected candidates will be contacted.
