What are the responsibilities and job description for the PROGRAM TECHNICIAN III position at Department of Justice?

Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager I, the Program Technician (PT) III in the Record Support Section is responsible for monitoring, researching, and analyzing problems associated with the electronic transmissions of arrest records. The PT III provides consultation to submitting law enforcement agencies regarding transmission and reporting problems. The PT III must have a thorough knowledge of the criminal and applicant fingerprint processes, California criminal justice system, bureau policies and procedures, and the capabilities of the Justice Automated Data Exchange, the Automated Criminal History System, Batch Processor, APP Processor, Global Transaction Controller, and Display Queue. In addition, the PT III prepares and maintains monthly utilization reports for the Program, assists in the development of training manuals, and performs one-on-one training of new or existing staff.

Working Conditions

This position is designated for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

This position is eligible for telework, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.

Remote and hybrid schedules are subject to management approval. In addition, approved remote and hybrid schedules may be delayed for training purposes.

This position is located in the California Justice Information Services Division, Bureau of Criminal Information & Anlaysis, Record Management Branch, Criminal Record Expedite & Support Program, Record Support Section, Record Resolution Unit.
