What are the responsibilities and job description for the STAFF SERVICES MANAGEMENT AUDITOR position at Department of Justice?

The Office of Program Oversight and Accountability (OPOA) is searching for a motivated individual with a teamwork mentality to support department-wide auditing actives. Under close supervision of the Senior Management Auditor (SMA), Office of Program Oversight and Accountability (OPOA) and, when applicable, with the assistance of a lead auditor, the Staff Service Management Auditor (SSMA) independently completes audit assignments of average difficulty or assists on more difficult and complex audit, review, and evaluation assignments (e.g., Contracting Program audits, California Witness Relocation and Assistance Program audits, etc.), Department- wide risk assessment analysis, State Leadership Accountability Act (SLAA) internal control testing and review, and other special projects as assigned.
The SSMA must exercise professional judgment and analytical abilities in each phase of the audit engagement, which will include an assessment of the entire audit and the development of specific findings. This includes due professional care in the preparation of audit work papers and regular periodic communication with the OPOA Director and/or Assistant Director on all audit findings or problems. The auditor will remain independent in all work. The OPOA will provide hands on training for those interested in learning and growing their auditing skill set.

Working Conditions
In a remote work environment, home office, or similar environment in California. At the office, an enclosed windowed office with a smoke free environment. May be required to sit at a computer terminal while performing research and other duties up to eight hours a day. Travel to designated office may be required.
This position is designed for telework under Government Code section 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California and may require reporting to headquarters or field offices and facilities to fulfill operational needs. All telework schedules are subject to change and may be reevaluated at any time. Telework does not change the terms and conditions of employment, the essential functions of the job duties, or required compliance with the Department of Justice policies.

Range A. This range shall apply to incumbents who do not meet the criteria for payment in any other range.
Range B. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of six months of Staff Services Management Auditor experience, and to persons who have the equivalent of six months of satisfactory experience outside of State service performing management auditing duties to those of Staff Services Management Auditor.
Range C. This range shall apply to persons who have satisfactorily completed the equivalent of 12 months of Staff Services Management Auditor (Range B) or 18 months of Staff Services Management Auditor experience, and to persons who have equivalent of 18 months of satisfactory experience outside State service performing management auditing duties similar to those of Staff Services Management Auditor.
