The CSU Director provides leadership to and manages the operations of the court service unit, manages human and capital resources, and ensures the proper application of all pertinent policies and procedures according to departmental, state, local and judicial requirements. Collaborates with local stakeholders, community partners, and the judiciary.

Pursuant to Sections 2.2-3115 of the Code of Virginia, the selected candidate will be required to file a Statement of Economic Interests Form at the time of employment and annually thereafter.

Minimum Qualifications

At a minimum, selected candidates must possess the following:
  • Considerable knowledge of federal, state, local, and public laws and ordinances relating to criminal justice
  • Considerable experience managing or supervising a unit or multiple employees to include personnel management and leading organizational goals and practices
  • Demonstrated experience communicating effectively and establishing collaborative relationships with all levels of staff, partner agencies, and community stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing the administration and evaluation of criminal justice practices and program models
  • Knowledge of evidenced-based practices within criminal justice programming
  • Knowledge of budgeting and procurement practices
  • Working knowledge of MS Office programs

  • Progressive supervisory experience in a juvenile court service unit setting
  • Budget management experience
  • Experience utilizing automated case management systems

A valid driver’s license is required of DJJ employees to operate a state-owned or leased vehicle.
