JOB SUMMARY
This position serves as a member of the Traffic Adjudication Appeals Board (TAAB) in the District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles (DC DMV). Incumbent reports to the Adjudication Services Administrator. Incumbent reviews appeals submitted by individuals dissatisfied with decisions made by hearing examiners of the Adjudication Services Administration under the Traffic Adjudication Action of 1978, D.C. Law 2-104 and either upholds, overturns, or alters those decisions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The incumbent will be responsible for reviewing appeals submitted by individuals dissatisfied with decisions made by hearing examiners of the Adjudication Services Administration under the Traffic Adjudication Act of 1978, D.C. Law 2-104 and either upholds, overturns, or alters those decisions. Evaluates each case filed, setting aside any actions, findings, or conclusions that are arbitrary, capricious, an abuse of discretion, not in accordance with the law, exceed statutory authority or limitations, fail to follow required legal procedures, or lack substantial evidence in the record or proceedings before the appeals board.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Specialized Experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, one (1) year of specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
A Bar Membership is desired.
WORKING CONDITIONS/ENVIRONMENT
The majority of duties are performed remotely. The incumbent may attend meetings in person or remotely, at the discretion of the Board Chairman.

Tour of Duty: 8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.; Monday – Friday
Pay Plan, Series, Grade: CS-0301-14

Duration of Appointment: While Actually Employed (WAE) Temp Appointment Not-To-Exceed (NTE) 12 months.
The salary for this position is pro-rated based on the annual salary of $109,999 and the number of hours worked.
Collective Bargaining Unit (Non-Union): This position is not in a collective bargaining unit.
Position Designation: This position is designated as Security Sensitive and therefore the incumbent of this position will be subject to enhanced suitability screening pursuant to Chapter 4 of DC personnel regulations, suitability. This Position Requires A Pre-Employment Criminal Background Check.
