What are the responsibilities and job description for the PARK AIDE (SEASONAL) position at Department of Parks & Recreation?
Reporting locations for this position are Sue-meg State Park – Trinidad, CA. This position will work under the direction of the State Park Peace Officer, Supervising Ranger for Sue-meg and Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.
The Redwood Coast Sector of California State Parks has multiple openings for Visitor Services Park Aides. The positions will have variable start and end dates but generally run from early May through Labor Day or shortly thereafter.The Park Aide will work at multiple locations throughout Redwoods Coast Sector – South: Sue-meg State Park, and Gold Bluffs Beach and Elk Prairie both within Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.
Park Aides are responsible for providing quality customer service, answering visitor questions via phone or in person, and explaining rules and regulations. Job duties include collecting camping and day use fees; selling passes; cash handling and reporting; counting and recording visitor attendance; receive and relay reports of emergencies; and perform light housekeeping. In addition, the Park Aide must be proficient in basic use of a computer to download camping reservations; report funds collected; and check work e-mail account. Must be able to work, holidays, weekends and special events.
Park Aides must be able to work independently; follow instructions; use supplies and equipment required and provided by the job. If hired, Park Aides must be willing to purchase and wear a uniform.
This position may work up to 1500 hours within 12 consecutive months. This position is designated as not telework eligible.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.
Possession of a valid driver’s license of the appropriate class and a safe driving record as documented by the Department of Motor Vehicles within 60 days prior to appointment. (A safe driving record is one free from convictions in the past two years for repeated moving violations or a single serious violation, such as drunk driving or reckless driving.)
