STATE PARK EQUIPMENT OPERATOR/CHANNEL COAST/SAN BUENAVENTURA STATE BEACH
This classification is subject to the Post and Bid process. Applications from a certification list, transfer change in class, reinstatement, re-employment, and training and development assignment candidates will be accepted for this position but consistent with the MOU/Bargaining Agreement BU12/13 contract cannot be acted upon unless the Post & Bid process does not result in a hire.
The reporting location for this position is San Buenaventura State Beach in Ventura, CA. This position will work under the general direction of Park Maintenance Chief III.
The State Park Equipment Operator (SPEO) performs skilled and semiskilled Facility and Equipment maintenance. Will perform routine, emergency care and repair work in the State park system using hand tools, power tools, vehicles, heavy and/or complex equipment including but not limited to dump trucks, transport trailers, car trailers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, skid steers, person lifts, box scrapers, tractor attachments, chainsaws, chippers, sweepers and mowers. This position is responsible for the entire district operation and on occasion may be assigned to assist other districts throughout the state. May be required to work with classifications outside of the maintenance series, clearing debris, maintaining public beaches, removing all water hazards from tide lines, placement of lifeguard towers, fire and flood control, making berms, maintaining fire roads and trails, transporting equipment, grading dirt roads, equipment maintenance and BIT inspections. The State Park Equipment Operator will make purchases, process invoices, database input for fleet equipment service and repairs, and other data entry and administrative duties.
The incumbent’s work schedule will be Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Training and Development Assignments may be considered.
This position is designated as not telework eligible.
This position requires a valid Class A driver’s license. You must answer the questions addressing your driver’s license on your application. This position will be subject to the Federal Drug and Alcohol Testing Program.
The selected candidate is required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan fingerprinting prior to appointment.

Working Conditions
- Field and office locations. Exposed to multiple weather conditions.

- May include working at multiple positions on the ground or in tight areas and confined spaces.
