Fire Compliance Specialist (Compliance Specialist 2)
This recruitment is for one (1), regular, full-time position located in Salem, OR (4190 Aumsville Hwy SE) and is represented by Oregon Public Safety Association. This recruitment will be used to establish a list of qualified applicants and may be used to fill future vacancies.

What you will be doing:
As the Fire Compliance Specialist you will be reviewing cases of fire service professionals or certification applicants who have been discharged for cause or convicted of crimes, determining if revocation or further review is needed. Responsibilities include analyzing criminal records, reviewing discretionary convictions, and gathering additional information when necessary. The position also involves preparing legal documents, such as Notices of Intent and Final Orders, and handling contested cases with the Department of Justice. Additionally, the role includes reviewing and approving certification applications for individuals, instructors, courses, and agencies, ensuring they meet NFPA standards, and responding to inquiries from constituents regarding fire service certification regulations and requirements.

The Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) oversees the development of professional standards and the delivery of quality training for law enforcement officers, corrections officers, parole and probation officers, firefighters, telecommunicators, and emergency medical dispatchers. Minimum Qualifications:
Four (4) years experience doing administrative research that included compiling and evaluating facts to recommend management action, or decide compliance with program guidelines and regulations. Two (2) of the four years must be above the technical support level.
Note: college-level course work may substitute for experience on the basis of 45-quarter units per year, up to a maximum of three (3) years.

- Research and information gathering skills related to revocation and denial cases as well as fire certification standards.
