The Regional Director assures the activities and policies of the District and Division are consistent with the Department’s strategic vision and goals for providing services to individuals with disabilities in California. The Regional Director is a member of DOR's Senior Leadership Team along with the Executive Team and other key leaders within the organization and has a key role in leadership and administration of the Department. The Senior Leadership Team works together for continuous improvement and to meet the changing needs of the people of the State of California. The Regional Director is responsible for developing messaging and ensuring communication related to the priorities of the DOR are being effectively shared with staff at all levels.
Under Government Code 14200, this position is a hybrid, in-office/telework position, and may be subject to change. Incumbent must live and work in California. Incumbent can be required to report to the office, or any designated location at any time. Telework agreements can be modified and/or cancelled at any time.

Statement of Qualifications:
In addition to a correctly completed and submitted State Application (STD 678), cover letter, and resume, a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required in order to be considered for an interview. The SOQ should address how the candidate’s experience meets each of the following desirable qualifications. Each response must be numbered and should provide specific examples of how the candidate meets the qualification. The SOQ must be no more than three (3) pages typed in Arial 14-point font, with 1-inch margins. Successful candidates will incorporate and demonstrate a commitment to the mission of the Department of Rehabilitation in their Statement of Qualifications.
1. Please describe your leadership experience in programs or activities that demonstrate a commitment to equality for individuals with disabilities including the right to employment and independence, including but not limited to vocational rehabilitation.
2. Please describe your experience in building and maintaining effective relationships with diverse systems, including government agencies, education systems, businesses, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups, and how these relationships have resulted in improved outcomes for individuals with disabilities.
4. Please describe your experience initiating and completing a creative, innovative project which resulted in increased resources for your organization.

Desirable Qualifications
- Experience in programs or activities that demonstrate the applicant’s commitment to equality, including the right to employment and independence for individuals with disabilities.
- Experience leading programs that serve youth and adults with disabilities and knowledge of the barriers that individuals with disabilities encounter in becoming and staying independent.
- Knowledge of the purpose of the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 as amended by the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014.
- Experience in identifying or inspiring innovative approaches to improvements or to budgetary constraints.
- Experience collaborating effectively across systems serving youth with disabilities in order to create new programs, policies, or services to benefit shared customers.
- Experience managing a budget and maintaining compliance in programs with complex state and federal regulations.
- Experience developing and leading a high performing team. Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and direct subordinate managers in the overall operations of an organization.
