Under the general direction of the Staff Services Manager II and Ombudsperson, the SSM I plans, organizes, directs, and oversees staff efforts aimed at responding to issues related to foster youth rights, ensuring efficient and equitable of complaint investigations. The SSM I provides consultation, policy interpretation and analysis, and supports program development, related to the personal rights, care, placement, and services to support the safety and well-being of children in foster care in California. Provides coaching and supports staff professional development. Ability to work after normal business hours, weekends required.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience working in and/or knowledge of Child Welfare Practices including the Foster Care system,
Juvenile Legal process, and/or direct services provided to youth.
Experience handling sensitive/confidential material and information.
Experience working with all levels of supervisors and management.
Experience organizing and establishing workload priorities and work well under pressure.
Ability to exercise initiative and flexibility.
Experience working effectively both independently and cooperatively with others.
Experience effectively communicating with staff at all levels, both orally and in writing.
Ability to reason well and use good judgment dependable and punctual.
Experience with essential business software including but not limited to, Adobe, Acrobat Pro, Microsoft
Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Teams and Zoom.
