About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Assistant Accreditation Manager in our Professional Standards Division in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will support the Department's accreditation efforts by ensuring timely collection of compliance proofs from various information systems and Department personnel, in alignment with the standards set by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). This role requires the monitoring of mandatory and non-mandatory standards to ensure compliance and immediate reporting of any non-compliance instances to the Accreditation Manager. The incumbent will act as a resource for accreditation-related inquiries from Department personnel and external agencies, staying informed of changes to CALEA standards and representing the Department at accreditation-related meetings when feasible.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) standards and compliance processes.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of research techniques and methodologies; of project management; of organizational management/operation principles; and of statistical analysis/interpretation.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of software applications.
  • Skilled in the operation of PC/mainframe applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data; to interpret policies and procedures; and to interpret accreditation standards.
  • Proven ability to understand and apply the Department's written directives; to handle multiple assignments with critical deadlines; to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; and to locate and collect proofs of compliance from a variety of information systems.
  • Ability to monitor and report non-compliance issues in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of others.
  • Considerable knowledge and experience in administration of justice, public administration, or a related field.
  • Progressively responsible experience in planning, project management, and analyzing organizational issues.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Additional Considerations

  • Relevant experience working with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Inc. (CALEA) accreditation process preferred.
