QualificationsThe U.S. Naval War College : The U.S. Naval War College (NWC) is a Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) institution serving the nation, the Department of Defense, and the U.S. Navy. U.S. and selected international graduates earn Master of Arts degrees in National Security & Strategic Studies or Defense & Strategic Studies accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE). The College educates tomorrow's leaders, informs today's decision-makers, and engages with Allies and partners in by developing strategic perspective, critical thinking, and cultural awareness in peace, crisis, and war. More information on the college can be found at .Responsibilities : Reporting to the Provost through the Associate Provost for Education & Faculty, the Director of Institutional Effectiveness is responsible for conducting the College's institutional assessments, evaluating its effectiveness and sustaining its compliance with accreditation standards. The Director of Institutional Effectiveness facilitates : the collection, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of institutional data in support of the evaluation of the quality, integrity, and effectiveness of its academic programs; the application of higher education best practices to NWC mission; program evaluations that enhance the College's mission effectiveness, planning processes, and decision making; and fosters a culture of assessment throughout the College. The incumbent is responsible for keeping cognizant of Congressional and DoD-mandated joint professional military education requirements; working collaboratively with academic and administrative units within the College; overseeing relations with an external research vendor to develop and implement comprehensive assessment instruments throughout the curricula; assisting the College's faculty focused on research, gaming, analysis, academic outreach, international engagement, and academic services with systematic approaches to improving organizational effectiveness. As a member of the faculty and as the conditions allow, the Director should be able to teach resident, low-resident, or non-resident students in core or elective courses.Qualifications and Competencies : The Provost seeks candidates who have the ability to design, organize, and manage complex projects; conduct data analysis; interpret, display and report assessment data; and work collaboratively with College leaders, faculty and staff to accomplish institutional goals. The ideal candidate will possess thorough knowledge of academic programs and learning environments; extensive familiarity with accreditation processes, guidelines, and standards; excellent project management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills; a strong commitment to diversity and inclusivity; and the ability to promote an organizational culture that values data-driven assessments, demonstrates a commitment to institutional effectiveness, and improves College programs through action. For the successful candidate, the initial term of appointment is expected to be four years in length with provision for renewal dependent on performance. This is not a remote work position; however, the incumbent may be eligible for telework as determined by policy and the position requirements. The incumbent may be expected to travel on occasion. This is a full time, non-tenure track position. Expected start date is summer 2025.Salary Considerations : Salary is competitive and is accompanied by a generous Federal Civil Service package that includes health insurance, pension and retirement saving plans (with employer matching contributions), paid annual vacation and sick leave, and other benefits. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience in accordance with the Department of the Navy Faculty Schedule.
