Job Title: Program Specialist – Social Media, Marketing, Event Planning
Agency: Youth of Virginia Speak Out About Traffic Safety (YOVASO), a statewide peer-to-peer program that advocates for young driver and passenger safety under the direction of the Virginia State Police.
Location: Chesterfield, VA (In-office with occasional travel statewide)
About Us: YOVASO is a statewide youth-led initiative focused on promoting teen driver and passenger safety. We empower youth to take charge of peer-to-peer education campaigns aimed at saving lives and reducing vehicle-related injuries among teens.
Position Overview: We are seeking a creative and energetic individual to join our YOVASO team. This position will lead the planning and execution of statewide marketing campaigns, social media initiatives, and educational events, including our annual Summer Leadership Retreat. If you're passionate about youth advocacy, marketing, and event planning, this is your opportunity to make a difference.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement marketing strategies and annual communications plans
- Create and manage dynamic content across social media and website platforms
- Design print materials, branded items, and video advertisements
- Organize and execute major events, including multi-day leadership retreats and school/community safety events
- Maintain relationships with media and creative service agencies for PSAs and teen safety messaging
- Represent YOVASO at events, conferences, and traffic safety committees
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in social media content creation and management tools (e.g., Sprout Social)
- Knowledge of CMS platforms (e.g., WordPress)
- Strong graphic design skills using Photoshop and Canva
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and project management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness and ability to travel statewide
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field
- Experience with youth-focused programming or advocacy
- Familiarity with public safety or traffic safety education
