The California Water Commission (Commission) is seeking an Assistant Executive Officer who is able to take initiative, think creatively, solve problems, and deliver results. Under the supervision of the Executive Officer, the Assistant Executive Officer supports all aspects of the Commission’s work and advances the Commission’s mission to use its public forum to explore water management issues from diverse perspectives to advise State decision-makers on equitable ways to improve water policy, planning, and management in response to California’s changing hydrology. The Assistant Executive Officer will develop and oversee implementation of the Commission’s new 2025 Strategic Plan, supervise and manage direct reports, lead special projects, track and manage activities related to the Water Storage Investment Program, and advise the Executive Officer. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, writing skills, and public speaking skills; will have a track record of building cooperative working relationships across agencies or organizations; and will understand key issues related to California’s water resources.
