Job Description




This position is responsible for the reconciliation of accounts receivables & electronic receipts for the Departments of Natural Resources (DNR), Environment, Great Lakes, & Energy (EGLE), Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD), and Transportation (MDOT). This position maintains and reconciles control records (receipts/adjustments/receivables) utilizing state administrative procedures and governmental accounting practices. Internal and external communication is used to account for receipts accurately, as well as accounts receivable establishment. This position is responsible for the distribution of credit card revenue deposited by Treasury to account coding specific to the revenue earned. Responsibilities include compiling and preparing various financial schedules and reports related to revenue settlement. This position will also serve as a backup for the other Accounting Technicians (Electronic Receipts & Accounts Receivables).

The "Salary" listed above is a range that reflects the minimum rate at the entry (7) level through the maximum rate at the experienced (E9) level. Based on education and experience, candidates will be reviewed to determine what level they are qualified for.

Required Education and Experience

Education
Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.

Experience

Accounting Technician 7
One year of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements equivalent to an Accounting Assistant E7.

Accounting Technician 8
Two years of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 7 or an Accounting Assistant 8.

Accounting Technician E9
Three years of experience involving posting to ledger accounts, reconciling accounts, executing adjustments, and preparing financial statements, including one year equivalent to an Accounting Technician 8, two years equivalent to an Accounting Technician 7, or one year equivalent to an Office Supervisor with a subclass code of BKPS.

Alternate Education and Experience

Accounting Technician 7
Completion of two years of college (60 semester or 90 term credits) with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Accounting Technician 8
Possession of a Bachelor's degree with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Accounting Technician E9
Possession of a Bachelor's degree with at least 16 semester (24 term) credits in accounting courses and one year of job-related experience may be substituted for the experience requirement.

Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.

Paid Holidays: Eligible employees receive 13 or 14 paid holidays each year including New Year’s Eve and Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, Election Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Friday, Christmas Eve and Day.
